ELECTRICAL

All wiring must be in done in an approved manner, acceptable to the latest edition of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code and the ESA inspector.

The OESC and ESA will not accept:

  • Open joints
  • Joints that are taped
  • Ungrounded wiring
  • Improper box connectors etc.

Any lighting or wiring that is not factory assembled must be approved by and accredited approval by an agency prior to move-in. A list of agencies can be found here http://www.esasafe.com/consumers/productsafety/who-can-certify-electrical-products-in-ontario

Exhibitors placing on site orders to correct wiring that is not up to code will be worked on as soon as all pre-ordered orders are installed. A standard hourly rate will be charged for this service.

SHOWTECH POWER & LIGHTING holds a multi-year exclusive supplier agreement for the provision of electrical show services at Exhibition Place including Enercare Centre and Better Living Centre. All electrical and lighting orders must be placed directly with ShowTech using their online portal.

Please complete the ShowTech the “Electrical Order Form” by the deadline to receive a special discount (see link below).

In our experience, most exhibitors will need the “1500 WATT, 120 Volt Duplex Outlet (E1500)”. Most Rising Stars Exhibitors will need the “750 WATT, 120 Volt Duplex Outlet (E800)”.

The amount of electricity you will use can be calculated by multiplying the number of fixtures you have by the wattage indicated on each light. Remember to order enough wattage to accommodate extra equipment (in addition to lights) such as a Dustbuster, computer, Debit/credit card machine, cell phone charger, etc.

NOTE: ShowTech may audit each booth and bill you directly for any wattage you use above and beyond what you ordered.  If you have any questions about the power in your booth, please contact ShowTech or visit their office outside Hall B next to Salon 106.

Please do not use more wattage than you have ordered since it may cause a power shortage in your area and affect your neighbours.

ADVANCE DISCOUNT DEADLINE: THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 2019

Electrical Safety

Keep in mind the following when planning your lighting and other electrical fixtures:

  • Lights with clamps must have ceramic or plastic sockets.
  • Any electrical product (i.e. lamps) on display or to be sold by an artisan must be CSA approved for parts & assembly and have the CSA sticker.
  • The Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC) and Ontario Regulation 438/07 require all electrical equipment to be approved. The electrical products should be approved by recognized certification organizations accredited by the Standards Council of Canada. The approval means that the product meets Canadian Safety Standards. This is signified by the "C" outside the Entela, ETL, MET, OMNI, QAI, TUV America, TUV Rheinland and UL marks.
  • Recognized Certification Mark can be viewed here.
  • As an alternative to equipment certification, electrical equipment is deemed to be approved if a field evaluation agency has examined the equipment and has found that it conforms to the applicable standards for the equipment and presents no undue hazard to persons or property.
  • Please find a list of recognized certification and field evaluation agency links here.
  • The Regulation 438/07 can be viewed here.

FLOOR COVERING

You must bring your own floor covering to the Show (except Rising Stars exhibitors). The exhibit hall in the Enercare Centre has a cement floor with unsightly electrical ports located every 30 ft. on centre throughout the hall. You may bring carpet or another type of floor covering that is securely taped down to the concrete with carpet tape so that your customers will not trip on it (the Fire & Safety Inspector will be checking for this). If you need to rent carpet Stronco Show Services has a number of colours available for this purpose. If you choose to do so, please use Stronco's online order portal.

TIP: If you are using carpet use an underlay as well - the floor is hard! Your back and legs will thank you!

Floor covering must NOT be adhered to the show floor using masking tape, clear packaging tape and plastic or duct tape. It is recommended that exhibitors use Scapa Tapes' carpet tape which is a high-adhesion double-sided cloth tape commonly used at trade shows; it leaves almost no residue upon removal. It can be ordered from National Hardware Sales Ltd. (item: Scapa #174). It is also available from Pillar Tapes Ltd. All tape must be completely removed by the exhibitor during move-out.

NOTE: The Rising Stars area is carpeted. Exhibitors in this section do not need to provide their floor covering but may do so if they wish.

CEILING

Exhibitors who wish to have a ceiling in their both must first obtain permission from show management.

Once permission has been granted, exhibitors with ceilings must adhere to the following:

  • A covered roof/ceiling will require the material, whether fabric or a hard surface, be fire treated. (Green Dolphin provides a variety of fire treatment services).
  • The fire treatment must be done before exhibitor move-in.
  • Exhibitor must provide proof of fire treatment to show management before show opening.
  • Exhibitor must provide their own 5 lbs. ABC fire extinguisher that is visible and accessible always during the show. Booth staff must be trained on its use by completing this online course: canadasafetycouncil.org/product/fire-safety/.

LIABILITY INSURANCE FOR BOOTHS

Liability insurance is required as part of your contract. As per Clause 5 of Schedule A, you are responsible for any loss or damage occurring in your booth. If you do not have liability insurance, a minimum policy of $5,000,000.00 is recommended. Call your insurance company to become insured for the duration of the Show. Or contact exhibitorinsurance.com, to purchase insurance for the duration of the Show (order form below).

Informa Canada will not be responsible for any injury, damage or theft occurring on the way to or from the Shows or while on-site. Exhibitors must secure adequate insurance coverage protecting themselves and all exhibit material from damage or theft.

It is not necessary to send the One of a Kind Show a copy of your insurance although we recommend that you bring a copy for yourself to the show.

To purchase temporary liability insurance from our supplier, use the online portal.

ACCESSIBILITY

The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) should be considered both in terms of your booth design and in your customer service plan. Keep in mind that disabilities aren’t always visible, and we can’t always tell who has a disability. For example, disabilities can include vision disabilities, deafness or being hard of hearing, intellectual and mental health disabilities.

Think about how you can give people with disabilities the same opportunity to access your goods and services and in a manner similar to that of other customers. Consider how you will communicate with a person with a disability in a way that takes into account their disability.

You can learn more about AODA here.

INTERNET  + PHONE

If you would like a phone or an internet connection installed in your booth, please complete the appropriate order form from the Enercare Centre below. Please note that cell phones do not always receive a signal inside the building. Payphones are available inside the exhibit halls for customer convenience. We are sorry, but we cannot allow exhibitors to use the phones in the Show Office.

There are free WiFi hotspots in the Galleria of Enercare Centre, however, there is no free WiFi inside the exhibit hall. The hotspots are located outside the exhibit hall --one near the Business Centre (outside Hall B) and the other near the café outside of Hall A at the far west end of the Galleria. For more information, call 416-263-3075.

NOTE: There is a computer with internet access in the Exhibitor Lounge that Exhibitors can sign up to use.

DEADLINE: MONDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2019

LIGHTING

To create an intimate atmosphere, the overhead lights will be dimmed in the hall during the Show. Therefore, one of the most critical components of your booth display is your lighting. You must bring your own lighting, or rent lighting from ShowTech for your booth (see lighting options below). Keep in mind the following when planning your lighting:

  • All fixtures must be CSA approved. Look for the sticker when you purchase your lights.
  • Lights with clamps must have ceramic or plastic sockets.
  • The use of strobe lights is strictly prohibited.
  • Any electrical product (i.e. lamps) to be sold by an artisan must be CSA approved for parts and assembly.  and have the CSA sticker.
Recognized Certification Mark can be viewed here.
  • As an alternative to equipment certification, electrical equipment is deemed to be approved if a field evaluation agency has examined the equipment and has found that it conforms to the applicable standards for the equipment and presents no undue hazard to persons or property.
  • Find a list of recognized certification and field evaluation agency links here.
  • The Regulation 438/07 can be viewed here.

Showtech Power & Lighting has a variety of lights to choose from if you choose to rent your lighting. Some of the options are clip-on types that attach to the wall of your booth while others are hung from the ceiling of the exhibit hall. To rent any of these options, use Showtech's online portal.

PIPE + DRAPE

Your booth includes pipe and white drapes that act as a divider between you and your neighbour. The pipe and drape is 8 ft high. You may bring fabric to add to the drape (using Velcro, "s" hooks, or pins, or you may order extra pipe from Stronco) or you may install a hard wall system as a backdrop. The diameter of the pipe is approximately 1.5”. We highly recommend you do NOT use the drape as your background.

NOTE: There is no pipe and drape in the Rising Stars or Visual Art Gallery sections. Artists in these areas must bring or rent their own structures.

If you need an extra cross-bar for your booth (for example, to run across the top of the front of your booth to clamp lights to) you can order it from Stronco Show Services using the online portal.

Show Code: 477182807

DEADLINE: MONDAY, OCTOBER 28, 2019

DIMENSIONS

Your display must fit within the confines of the booth for which you have been contracted (including tables, chairs, merchandise, signage, you and your staff). Due to the pipe and drape construction, internal dimensions are reduced slightly (the pipe diameter is approximately 1 ½"). Please keep in mind the actual dimensions - especially if bringing a hard-wall system or floor:

10 x 20 9'-8" deep x 19'-8" wide

Please do not extend your display into your neighbour's space or into the aisles!

HEIGHT

Your booth display must be no taller than the standard 8-foot height of the booth walls or pipe and drape. No exceptions.

SALE SIGNS

Please note that "Discount", "Sale", and "No HST" signs are strictly prohibited, as are handwritten signs. You will be asked to remove the sign from your display. Any sign that is part of your display must be within the confines of your contracted space and must not obstruct other booths or come out into the aisles. If this happens you will be asked to remove or reposition your signage.

SIGNAGE

A booth number sign will be provided during move-in so that customers can find you at the show. Please refrain from moving, removing or altering the booth number sign as customers require it to locate your booth easily. The booth number signs will be collected at show closing. These booth number signs will be reused at other shows, so we ask that you take care of your booth number sign.

NOTE: Booth numbers will be posted in the Artisan Profiles (www.oneofakindshow.com/artisans) on Friday, October 18, 2019.

Green Section Signage: If you are an exhibitor in the Green section you are required to display the What makes this product Green? sign in your booth. The dimensions of this sign are 8½” x 11” and it will be supplied to you during move-in. Those in the Green section will be contacted with more information. If you have not been contacted by Monday, November 11, 2019, please email jess@oneofakindshow.com.
