UNDERSTANDING YOUR CONTRACT

CONTRACTED ITEMS   |   EXCLUSIVITY CLAUSE   |   PRODUCTION CRITERIA

Your contract outlines the specifics of your participation at the show, but there are a few that we want to point your attention to as you dive into your show prep. Please ensure you have read and understand them to ensure you don't run into issues onsite.

Contracted Items

In order to present a well-curated show that upholds our commitment to craft, the One Of A Kind teams reviews all products for sale in the show. This helps us to create a well-curated shopping experience and ensures that we uphold our mandate to promote locally-made craft. So, we ask that you helps us maintain our integrity and balance the sales of the various categories by only bringing products that you have been contracted to sell.

You can find the items that you have been approved to sell listed on your One Of A Kind contract. If you notice something missing from your contract or want to add something new, you can submit it for review through our New Products Form. You will be asked to upload images and a include a step-by-step description of your production process. We require this information 60 days before the start of the show in order to make any possible adjustments to booth location to accomodate these additions.

Note:

  • In order to maintain the balance of the show, we do have to limit additions of more popular items, like jewelry, scarves, totes and clothing, if they do not already fall within your category. Allowing makers in other categories to add these items draws sales away from those for whom these items are their mainstay and makes it very hard to place booths without any overlapping neighbors.
  • Just because your new work was not accepted for this show, does not mean you can never bring it to One Of A Kind. A new show will bring a new mix of exhibitors and new show neighhors, so you can always try again next year.

Exclusivity Clause

Typically, participation in our event includes an exclusivity clause, meant to help us drive sales at the show by creating a One Of a Kind shopping experience. In consideration of the shifted dates of the show, the exclusivity clause will be waived for the new 2020 Spring Show.

Production Criteria

We are committed to presenting a show that upholds One Of A Kind's longstanding mission. Shopping One Of A Kind means buying items crafting with love by people who guide each piece from idea to actualization. Though trends and technology continue to redefine the landscape of craft, we remain strong in our mandate to support artisans producing local, small batch items. So, we take any reports to the contrary very seriously. We do our best to monitor and maintain the integrity of the show, but with only 6 of us and hundreds of you, it is an enormous task. So, we ask that you help us maintain the integrity of the show by only bringing items that fit our production criteria and, if you see something at the show that does not fit, you report it using the form at the below link.

  • Note: Because of the serious nature of these reports, we do ask that all claims are made in writing and include your name and contact information. This information will remain confidential.
  • Food for Thought: We consider different production criteria for each category based on available technologies and level of involvement. If you are concerned about something in a category you are unfamiliar with, consider the production methods necessary to prepare for a show of our size.
